How Will You Feed Your Baby?

When you choose to get pregnant and have a boy or girl of your dreams, one of the things you will want to learn more about is how you are going to feed the baby who will soon be joining your family.

Whether you choose to breastfeed or give your child infant formula, you need to know how much a baby needs to be healthy and grow, how to feed, and how often.

Babies that are breast-fed have some significant advantages, including benefits to their immune systems that will last throughout their lives.

However, there are some women who cannot breast-feed, and a formula-fed baby can also grow to be strong and healthy.

While breast milk is readily available at precisely the correct concentration and temperature, formula needs to be prepared, stored and warmed with care.

Mix exactly as directed on the can or package. If it is too watery, it won’t give the baby enough calories and she or he will be mal-nourished. The usual mix is 1 part formula to 1 part pure water (preferably filtered or spring water).
